I am a single father of two kids, so I know that this is a hard thing to talk about with my wife. The truth is that I take all the time necessary to care for my kids, but I often just don’t do enough or get enough of my time. All of this stress can cause you to feel guilty of your actions that don’t match your values. For example, if you do nothing, you feel less guilty of not doing everything for you family.
There are all kinds of reasons why people feel guilty. A person who is guilty of not spending time with their family, or who does not have enough time to take care of themselves, might be feeling guilty about not spending a lot of time with their kids. The problem is that these feelings of guilt can be harmful.
I think most of us feel guilty when we do something that we know we should do. For example, when I got my first car, I was so excited at the time, I decided that I would buy a used vehicle that I would have time to work on it. That way I could keep up with my family and still get a decent car for my money when I got older.
In reality though, the amount of time we spend with our kids and the amount of time we spend caring for them are directly related to the amount of time we spend feeling guilty about not being able to do something we should be doing. It’s easy to feel guilty when you feel guilty. It’s easy to feel guilty when you think you’re being a good mom or a decent dad. It’s easy to feel guilty when you think that you lack self-awareness.
The truth is that we should all be feeling guilty at some point. Whether it’s guilt over not having enough time to spend with our kids, guilt over not being able to afford a new car, guilt over not being a good parent, or guilt over not having the time to actually be a good parent. There is nothing wrong with feeling guilty at some point.
I don’t think anything should be off-limits, but when I see someone with a bad attitude I have a hard time not saying something.
The problem is that we are all guilty at one point or another. The good news is that as we grow and find our path, we can look back at our behavior and see that our guilt was not real. Just like the time when you realized you were in a car accident and your parents were not at fault, you can look back and see that your actions were not your fault.
That is a powerful thought.
That’s true, but the problem comes when we take our actions out of our own hands. If we are not doing something about our behavior, then we are not doing anything. The next time you see somebody with a bad attitude, you can ask them about their life and see if they have a plan for their future.
If you ask a person what they plan to do, the answer is almost always vague. You can’t tell if they are planning to get drunk and get into a fight, or if they plan to lose their job and go back to their friends in a different city.
